Southern Baptist Convention-2006 June 7, 2006

Just real quick, I wanted to let everyone know about the 2006 Southern Baptist Convention annual conference that will be held in Greensboro, NC at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex. The conference will be held on June 13-14. It is definitely something to check out and try to attend. You will need to register online; see website for details.
I only recently found out that the Convention will be bringing in an extra 20,000(+) people to Greensboro. This is a major event and as said, thousands of Baptists will be attening from all over the southeast coast. Personally, until recently I had only heard about the 102 SuperJam Concert that will also be held in the Coliseum. This is an annual 'Hip-Hop' concert that of course will also be bringing an extra 20-30,000 people to Greensboro from all over the US; but it is always good to hear that a Christian event is drawing the same amount of people as any other.
On another note, annual events like these always bring good business to Greensboro. Events of this size usually quadruple revenue sales for that week or weekend. On the business end, this June will be an amazing month for Greensboro. Ciao.
‘TRIAD Spotlight’: JUNE June 4, 2006

Hello everyone, I thought I’d experiment with something new I plan to do every month. ‘TRIAD Spotlight’ will be a video interview or a quick info spotlight about a local student, entrepreneur, artist(music, canvas, performing, etc.), educator, or any other young person that is making a difference or is on the quick rise in the ‘Triad’.
This month’s feature is Anton ‘Ace’ Lindsay, owner and operator of 1st CLASS INTERPRISES, based in Greensboro. He is a 23 yr. old entrepreneur that has been in the ‘promo’ business for 2 years. He has promoted events for various venues and clubs around Greensboro like, the Greensboro Ballroom, Alexander Deveraux’s, Safari’s, Tate St. Bar & Grill, and others. He quotes – “I’m always on the ‘grind’ and always try to stay ahead of the competition. I’m up at 7:00am every morning making business calls and getting new contacts”
Anton started out small and has been through tough times, this being his main job. Now because of his perseverance, he is really taking his business to the next level. He has acquired a ‘team’ of young men that also share his business sense; Jonathan Massey, Clayton Keck, Joshua Powell, Christopher Lea, Marvin Powell, Justin Peterson, Marcus Massey, and Jeff Turner, bringing expertise in Graphic Design, Advertising, Business Administration, ITT, and Public Relations . What sets him(them) apart from his competition is that he has made partnerships with major recording labels and various artists as sponsors for his events. He has had the chance to meet T.I., Shawna of DTP, Mobb Deep, and is now receiving sponsorships from major labels like TVT Records, Def Jam, Atlantic, Interscope, and Arista. He recently had a party featuring CRUNK, which is Lil’ Jon’s energy drink product.
Here Anton briefly talks about 1st CLASS INTERPRISES.

One more thing that Anton feels is finally about to put him ‘over the top’ is a recent partnership with KING Magazine. Executives and Supermodels of KING Magazine will be appearing at an official after party of the ‘102 SuperJam Concert‘ that will be held at the Greensboro Coliseum on June 23rd. Along with the concert, Anton’s afterparty is SURE to be a sellout event, which will be held in Greensboro at GABRIEL’s, off of West Wendover Ave. Be sure not to miss it!!
Here is the front and back of the official flyer soon to be circulated all over North Carolina.
An article at a later date will be published in KING Magazine and here is a link from their website for the party – link
Anton’s next step is to spread and share his ‘vision’ with the Latin community. He wants to bring Latin artists and more variety of Latin entertainment to Greensboro. Keep your eyes and ears open for lots more of “1st CLASS” in the near future. You can also check out his personal page on Myspace.
- Much thanks and God Bless to Anton Lindsay
The Future Of Our Music!(?) June 3, 2006

Tell me what you think about the quick rise of this ‘Reggaeton’ – Me personally being a Spanish speaker, love the idea that reggaeton and latin music are getting more of the radioplay they deserve. More and more, artists have been leaning away from the spotlight(and of course also those coming in), by branching out and spreading the vision of their music to other cultures. For example, recently, Black Eyed Peas basically did a duo album with Latin Jazz Legend, Sergio Mendes. I’m not sure if the album even went past GOLD but if you’re a fan, it is an excellent CD. Of course the Black Eyed Peas are already big, but this was time to take a break from the spotlight and just experiment with their already world famous creativity and diversity.
Moving on, artist
(who has been around for years), is a Black-Latino from Jamaica, who speaks English, Jamaican dialects, and Spanish. I just think having that much natural cultural diversity makes his potential limitless. Artists like Notch might not be the ones you hear so much about on TV and the radio, but they’re making all the noise in the underground scene.
On the other hand, main stream Latin artists like Pitbull, Daddy Yankee, Nina Sky, and recently Shakira, have of course been seen and heard a lot more because of there cross-over and blend of cultures and musics. Separately, they have had hit songs with American and non-American stars like Lil’ Jon, Pharrell, Wyclef Jean, Snoop Dogg, Sean Paul, and more. I think that music and math(that’s another story) are some of the most powerful tools to connect cultures and I am all for the mainstreaming of Latin music on the TV and radio.
On the negative, many people that I talk to say things like “It’s cool but I get tired of hearing that mess; I don’t know they be saying”, “Can’t they have their own radio station so I don’t have to hear it?”, or “Why are trying to come and take over?”. I think this is a very negative view, for American and non-American peoples. So I ask, “What do you think about your favorite artists going on tour to South American countries, Europe, and other foriegn countries to spread the music that we love?”
- Your feedback is greatly wanted and appreciated on this one! Ciao.
Google SketchUp June 3, 2006

Hello everyone, I thought I’d take a second to talk about some fun software I’ve been messing around with. Google SketchUp is a very exciting and FREE program. Complete strangers(to designing) are able to make elaborate models of pretty much anything they desire, from scratch. It is a free download from Google and the software comes with self-paced tutorials to guide the user step-by-step.
It is a 3D program that lets you build for example, houses, churches, schools, etc., filling in every detail from shrubs, trees, lightpoles, couches, TVs, to wall clocks. You can add realtime shadows based on the time of day you prefer and search through an online 3D warehouse for various components done by millions of different users. If you are familiar with Google Earth, once you get advanced enough, you can even export your models to Google Earth; like if you make a model of your house or something.
It is definitely something to check out for those interested in archtecture & designing, maybe someone planning to design their own home, or just anybody that has some free time on their hands. Here are some pictures of my first model; it took me less than a hour. You are only able to see these in a two dimensional view, sorry to say. If anyone checks out the software please let me know how you like it. Ciao.

- Enjoy
