Are you ready for the Real World?! January 27, 2006

It's all too common, that when college students are preparing to graduate and are looking for a job, they don't know where to start and do not have the proper experience, even though they've probably spent 4 to 5 years supposedly 'preparing'.
Too many students do not know how to behave on a job interview simply because they've never had the experience and training.
This has all been heard before BUT! because this failure is reported and stats continue to increase year after year, that is a major problem. These statistics that increase every year show that student's are still at(stuck with) their same part time job(s) when they graduate, and after years of being stagnate do not follow their career path that they hopefully studied so diligently for in their years of college.
Many universities/colleges across the country are devising programs and services to help students prepare themselves, if not completely for the real world, at least for their first job interview. One of the best ways for these type of programs to work is for students to promote them themsleves and assure fellow student that they are in fact working and can help.
It is always a good idea to start early and visit your school's relating office, school website, or simply search yourself for independent internships and career fairs that are not directly related to your school.
REMEMBER! your degree does not ensure you a good paying job, or a job period. Even though most college students know this, there are many that honestly do not. Here are some quick sites to check out and please share with your friends
Good hunting!
